Guides

Mike Newsom

Mike Newsom is a 6th generation hunter and a 3rd generation guide on Reelfoot Lake. Some would say he was a "natural" when it comes to the sport of duck hunting, and by the time he was 13 years of age was guiding parties of 6 men or more solely by himself. "I took the ball and ran with it, and made a lot of friends along the way". Over the years, Mike's passion for outdoor adventure has carried him across 2 continents and 3 different countries. From the barley fields in Manitoba, Canada to the coastal marshes of South Carolina, to the flooded green timber of Arkansas, and all points in between, Mike has lived the Waterfowler's Dream. "Of all the places I've hunted, Reelfoot Lake is still my favorite."

At 18 years of age, Mike was hired by Pradco ( the largest manufacturer of Outdoor products in the World) to promote hunting all across the United States. One of the many perks of the job was filming various hunts at the Nation's top lodges. "I took the best of each of those guide services, and tailored my guide service to be something special......a place where you feel like you are amongst life-long friends from the start".

In the off season, Mike and his wife Annette operate Newsom & Associates, a marketing and advertising firm in Martin, Tn. They have three children- Avery-Grace, Enzley-Claire and Fowler Newsom.

Allen Blankenship

Allen Blankenship discovered his passion for waterfowling while attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Due to UTM's close proximity to Reelfoot Lake, and some of Tennessee's best public and private hunting grounds, Allen received an education in duck hunting. After completing his undergraduate degree at Middle Tennessee State University, Allen began hunting the lakes and rivers of Middle Tennessee, as well as the flooded timber and rice fields of Arkansas. He has hunted in many of the lower Mississippi Flyway states, as well as freelance hunting in Canada. As a die hard hunter, Allen is always in pursuit of going to where the birds want to be. Whether it's hunting from a permanent blind, or a layout blind; wading in the flooded timber or using a boat blind; hunting in a pit, or a makeshift blind, he will take the steps necessary to put hunters on the "X". Whether it's ducks or geese, you can be certain Allen will be as enthused as any client to make the call, to put the birds on their final approach.

Brian Breeden and Stacey Crosser

Brian Breeden and Stacey Crosser have been waterfowl hunting together since childhood. Combined they have over 50 years of waterfowling experience!! Their common sense approach to waterfowling always has ducks piled up on the front of the boat at the end of the day.

Garret Davis

Garrett Davis has been waterfowl hunting since he was old enough to tote a gun.   He has guided for many years and currently works as a pro-staffer for Sillisock decoys and Natural Game Calls.   A true testament that scouting, hard work, and perseverance pay off huge dividends in any situation, Garrett is sure to put "feet in your face".

John Flowers

John loves what he does, and it reflects in his work ethic...."I have been lessed with many talents....To teach people something and to be able to share my good fortune with other folks is what makes it worthwhile" A day in the duck lind with John is like hunting with a old friend you haven't seen in awhile. " I treat everyone like a friend and that is what is most important....establishing a friendship with someone that lasts a lifetime. When asked about his passion for waterfowling John answers with this "When I come out of Walnut Log ditch and see the sun coming up behind those majestic Cyprees trees its like a breath of fresh air.....It's why I do what I do" Johns experience in waterfowling was groomed from the barley fields of Canada to spending many days afield with one of the Best Goose Callers in the World - The Legendary Tim Grounds. A day in the blind with John FLowers is a truly memorable one.

Slayton Gearin

I am a twenty two year Junior attending the University of Tennessee at Martin with a genuine love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. At the early age of ten, I became interested in duck calling and have been contest calling since age twelve. I have won in excess of twenty contests and have placed in that many more. My biggest qualifying wins are the Show Me regional in 2004, the Two Rivers Open (Dunn's), and the Grand American in 2003. In 1999, I was fortunate to be first runner-up in the junior world. My most recent accomplishment includes the 2004 champion of the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial. One of my proudest moments is currently being ranked the #3 duck caller in the world.

My annual duck and goose hunting trips to Saskatchewan, along with guiding for Waterfowl Unlimited Guide Service has provided me with valuable experiences and numerous opportunities over the last seven years. Working for the RNT section of Final Flight Outfitters at hunting shows has helped to develop my love for the outdoor industry. Hunting is my passion and I plan to spend my life involved as closely as possible with those who share it.

Chris Vincent

Chris Vincent is a 1991 University of Tennessee at Martin alumni. Chris' hobby turned professional in 1999 when he and a life-long friend started Extreme Outdoors Televison. A seasoned veteran with 21 years duck hunting experience has made Chris one of the most sought after waterfowl guides.

Hunter Vincent

Duck Hunting guide Hunter Vincent has been chasing ducks all of his life. Hunter is currently a Senior at the University of Tennessee at Martin pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business. "My favorite thing about duck hunting, is working ducks down onto the water...watching ducks break down and backpeddle is just amazing". When asked about his greatest waterfowl guiding accomplishment Hunter says " I took 6 youths on a Juvenile hunt back in 2008 and we limited out everyone"
